William J. Mackey Sr. hopes the third time is a charm to win the 124th Legislative District seat
Democrat Bill Mackey, West Penn Township, was selected as the party's candidate in the 124th Legislative District special election., the 124th district includes parts of Schuylkill and Berks counties. William J. Mackey is seeking election on the Democratic Party ticket. Please visit Bill's website for more details.
Despite previous failures, Mackey said times have changed. Argall’s departure for the Senate may give him a unique chance at success. Mackey, a 65-year-old retired pipefitter from Andreas, has tried unsuccessfully for the office twice before. He lost to Argall in 2006 and 2008, but said this week he “is not a quitter.” and “My previous attempts to capture this seat were against a longtime incumbent. This seat is now an open seat and it is up for grabs. My name recognition is out there with the voters in the district.”
The issue in this race is who is going to Harrisburg and fight for jobs, property tax elimination, our environmental problems still plague us and the number of Pennsylvanians without health care is rapidly increasing.
Mackey also draws attention to his career as a pipefitting construction project foreman, which he said demonstrated his ability to bring projects in “on time and under budget.” That concept, he said, should be heeded by state legislators.
